Sunflowers shining the light on Hidden Disability

ConneXu is helping to shine a light on hidden disabilities, by promoting the use of the Hidden Disability Sunflower Lanyard in the local community.

The Hidden Disability Sunflower is a discreet tool for people to share that they have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent. It indicates that they may need a helping hand, helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.

Originally launched in the UK in 2016, the hidden disability sunflower initiative has grown to a global network, of thousands of organisations across a variety of sectors including, sport and entertainment, public transport, travel (including more than 200 airports), retail, hospitality and cultural institutes. getting on board with the programme.

According to Hidden Disability, globally 1 in 6 live with a disability. That is approximately 1.3 billion people.

Chief Executive Fern Ryan says the organisation is proud to be a part of the programme.

“The Sunflower initiative is important for building understanding and raising awareness within our local communities of hidden disabilities,” she says

“We’re encouraging our local businesses and community members to show kindness, offer to help or be patient when they see someone wearing the sunflower emblem around town.”
