Fern Ryan – Chief Executive
Fern has worked in the community and disability support sector for over 26 years, primarily in supervisory and management roles, but has also sat on a number of boards in this arena. She also spent six years working for the Midland Needs Assessment and Service Co-ordination Agency. Fern was recruited by the Board of Trustees and joined ConneXu in September 2012.
Fern has extensive experience and qualifications in adult education, business management and human services, as well as behavioural assessment and management.
She is committed to community development and enabling people to determine what is a good life for them, however that may look. She loves her role at ConneXu and is excited to be leading the team to achieve the organisation’s vision of communities where people are empowered. She also serves on the board of Inclusive New Zealand.
Fern has lived in Te Awamutu for 22 years and is married with a teenaged daughter, a dog, three cats and a couple of cows. She enjoys reading, walking, travelling and spending time with friends and family.
