Your personal support network
There’s no question that our lives are enriched by the people around us. That’s why our focus is on connecting you to a support network that provides whole of life support – supporting you in the things that are important to you. It’s the kind of network that enables you to live a rich and fulfilling life – a life of depth, colour and meaning.
Your team – staff, volunteers & natural supports
We’ll match you with an individually selected group of staff, volunteers and natural supports. This group becomes your team, working together to provide strong, trust-based relationships with stability and consistency.
Maintaining current relationships & building new ones
We encourage you to keep up your current relationships with friends, family and whanau. We also actively support you to develop new relationships with people in your community. Often these are people who share the same interests or hobbies that you identified in your PATH or whole of life plan.
Having a personal support network gives you the confidence to pursue new interests or and take on new challenges. These connections sometimes become friendships that can last a lifetime.
A collaborative community
ConneXu works alongside others to help build a supportive and collaborative community for everyone, in which people feel valued and able to participate freely in their choices. We work together to break down barriers and focus on a community in which every member is challenged to contribute and be connected.
All communities are made up of individuals who each possess different gifts. Creating opportunities to develop connections between these gifted individuals is how ConneXu builds relationships. We encourage the individual to share their interests, and support the development of each person’s involvement within the community. Once established, we help the person to maintain these connections with others who share common interests or goals.
ConneXu, as part of a collective member of the community, can find powerful ways to include each individual to access and be part of groups, associations, clubs and communities to become connected citizens. It is about confidence, support, being listened too, exposure, experiences and most of all it is about living a good life.
Connecting with a volunteer
We believe that volunteers enhance the facilitation and supports which people receive. Your PATH or whole of life plan might include developing skills or participating in a group or activity that requires you to have the support of someone with specific skills. If a volunteer is the best pathway for this ConneXu will advertise for a volunteer. Volunteers are screened and trained like all staff at ConneXu, but volunteer their time around particular areas.
