ConneXus – the online system giving people control over their lives
We are excited to announce that we are rolling out a new self-determining online and cloud-based program that allows people with disabilities to have control of their personal information. People with disabilities want control over their choices and what their lives look like, and with this in mind, the system has been custom developed for ConneXu so that we can facilitate person-centred facilitation to empower individuals to live their lives, their way.
The system, called ConneXus, will be rolled out in a number of stages. Initially, the program will give people the ability to enter and share information, for example; capture videos and stories, and use it for graphic facilitation on a writeable device, which can then be shared with people that are important in their lives. The benefit of sharing videos and graphic facilitation in particular, is that it will enable people to communicate in a way where they are in control of their messages and stories.
The system already allows users to share receipts with ConneXu, and as the system is developed further, they will also be able to approve rosters of staff who support them, as well authorise their timesheets and wages. Another goal for future development is that the program will run through apps on users’ phones. The idea of the app is to allow the system to be easy to use – one of the principles of Enabling Good Lives.
Still further down the track, if individuals are being supported by several providers, people will be able to share their information between organisations, such as their Whole of Life plans and goals, their support expectations, personal plans and other information that is important to them.
